JOB SUMMARY
The Production Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the plant’s production department to ensure that established corporate and plant objectives, policies and goals are met, under safety and environmental guidelines. The Production Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing product in accordance with cost, quality and quantity specifications. The Production Manager carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws. Will directly supervise employees or supervise through others.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Directly oversee activities related to production, processing and distribution of products
- Review production schedule and production orders to make decisions concerning staffing, inventory, work procedures considering budgetary limitations and time constraints
- Review operations and confer with staff to resolve production or processing problems
- Prepare and maintain production reports, activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity, goal achievement, and determine areas needing cost reduction and improvement
- Determine staffing requirements, train employees and oversee employees in production
- Directly trains, mentors and provides guidance to supervisors to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of production shifts
- Provides recommendations on how to streamline and improve the process and improve process capability.
- Works closely with the Production Operations Manager in the planning and managing of daily operations
- Works closely with QA Manager to ensure food safety standards with regards to GMP’s and HACCP plan are followed at all times by all staff

EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Engineering or Business or equivalent work experience preferred
- 5+ years as production manager or supervisor in food manufacturing setting required
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Moderate to heavy physical effort required
- Required to walk, stand, bend for long periods of time throughout the day
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- Able to work in varied temperature environments (0-50 deg.)
Will be expected to perform other related duties and assignments requested or directed.
