Position Summary:
As an Oral Surgery Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our oral surgeon in performing complex procedures including extractions, implants, bone grafts, and soft tissue surgeries. This role requires prior surgical assisting experience. As an essential part of our team, you will ensure that patients are prepared for surgery, comfortable during procedures, and properly cared for post-surgery.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgeon with a variety of oral surgeries including wisdom teeth extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, and other complex procedures
- Monitor patient vital signs, ensuring patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures
- Ensure patients have fully completed medical history forms, dental questionnaires, and required office consents for treatment
- Take diagnostic X-Rays, CBCT scans, and 3D imaging as required for treatment planning
- Follow infection control protocol and sterilizing instruments/equipment
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgical procedures
- Prep and clean operatories
- Ensure that surgical supplies and equipment are stocked, organized, and in working order
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Schedule patient appointments
- Review treatment plans with patients
- Provide information to patients and employees by answering questions or requests
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a surgical dental assisting role; prior leadership or mentoring experience in a clinical setting
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential or state-specific certification (RDA, EFDA, etc.)
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, or Epic
- Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to providing patient-centered care that integrates oral health with overall health and well-being
- Strong ethical grounding in patient care and confidentiality
- A proactive attitude and willingness to participate actively in continual improvement of the clinic’s operations
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
