The BOH Team Leader is responsible for leading kitchen operations during assigned shifts, ensuring food quality, speed of service, cleanliness, food safety, and team performance. This role serves as a working leader who coaches team members, maintains operational standards, and helps deliver an exceptional guest experience in a fast-paced, high-volume pizza restaurant.

Lead, motivate, and support BOH team members during shifts.

Train new employees on recipes, procedures, food safety, and station responsibilities.

Provide coaching and performance feedback to improve productivity and consistency.

Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Assist management in identifying future leaders within the kitchen team.

Oversee daily food preparation and production to ensure quality and consistency.

Monitor ticket times and workflow to maintain speed of service during peak periods.

Coordinate pizza, appetizer, salad, and prep stations to maximize efficiency.

Ensure all menu items are prepared according to company recipes and standards.

Assist with shift planning and station assignments.

Maintain compliance with all health department regulations and food safety standards.

Monitor food temperatures, storage procedures, labeling, and product rotation (FIFO).

Ensure kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards are consistently met.

Conduct line checks and quality inspections throughout the shift.

Assist with inventory counts and product ordering.

Minimize waste through proper portioning and food handling practices.

Monitor product levels and communicate shortages to management.

Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment.

Ensure all kitchen equipment is operating safely and efficiently.

Report maintenance issues promptly.

Verify completion of opening, shift-change, and closing duties.

Previous kitchen leadership experience preferred.

Experience in a high-volume restaurant or pizza operation strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.

Ability to lead by example and work effectively under pressure.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a restaurant kitchen or similar back-of-house environment.

Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain one prior to start).
