Essential Duties:
-
Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols

Takes and records patient’s vital signs such as blood pressure and respiration rate
-
Assists surgeon with general anesthesia and intravenous sedation procedures
-
During treatment, the assistant transfers surgical instruments to oral surgeon and prepares surgical dressings
-
Monitors intravenous fluids and vital signs during and after the surgery procedure.
-
Takes dental radiographs, prepares prescriptions, maintains inventory of supplies in operatory
-
Enters patients’ treatment in computer and prepares all consent forms regarding surgery and the use of anesthesia

Gives patients post operative care instructions

Schedules patients’ next visit appointment

Maintains equipment and instruments by proper care, cleaning, and sterilization

Adheres to office education and protocol
-
Maintains patient confidentiality and conducts self in a professional manner
-
Any other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
-
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA infection control policies
-
Helps oral surgeon manage medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency kit, oxygen and other emergency supplies
Education / Experience Required:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent
Special Requirements/Certifications/Licenses:
-
DAI Certification
-
X-Ray Certification
-
CPR Certification
-
2+ years of chair side experience, preferably in oral surgery, dental, and/or periodontics.

Bilingual (preferred but not required)
