Part-Time Preschool Assistant Teacher
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
St. John's Episcopal Preschool is seeking a high-energy, nurturing, and dependable Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our team. This part-time position serves as a floater, providing support to our lead teachers primarily in our 1-year-old and 2-year-old classrooms. As a floater, you'll enjoy variety in your day while helping create a safe, joyful, and engaging environment where our youngest learners can grow, explore, and thrive.

Responsibilities
- Support lead teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for children ages 1 and 2.
- Supervise, engage with, and encourage children during classroom activities, free play, and outdoor play.
- Assist with daily routines, including diapering, handwashing, snack time, and transitions between activities.
- Help prepare and clean up classroom activities, materials, and learning spaces.
- Monitor children's safety and well-being while providing positive guidance and encouragement.
- Provide additional classroom support as needed to help maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
- Work collaboratively with preschool staff to ensure a positive experience for children and their families.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- A genuine love for young children and a warm, nurturing, and patient demeanor.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the changing needs of a floater role.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities, including sitting on the floor, bending, kneeling, and engaging in both indoor and outdoor play.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification after hire, is a plus.
- Previous experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, or daycare setting is preferred but not required.
