We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Animal Caretaker to join our team. This role involves working closely with animals in a kennel or veterinary setting, ensuring their health and well-being through proper handling, feeding, and medical care.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
- Maintain cleanliness in animal housing areas and ensure proper sanitation protocols are followed.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments.
- Utilize knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology to communicate effectively with the veterinary team.
- Handle various species with appropriate techniques, ensuring safety for both the animals and staff.
- Participate in laboratory procedures as required, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Engage in front desk duties when necessary, providing excellent customer service to pet owners.
Requirements
- Previous kennel experience or animal handling skills are preferred.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and basic veterinary care is essential.
- Experience as a veterinary technician or in veterinary critical care is a plus.
- Familiarity with animal anatomy, physiology, and terminology is highly desirable.
- Skills in medication administration and animal catheterization are beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients and team members alike.

Pay: $13.74 - $14.00 per hour
