DIRECT HIRE: Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Romulus, MI (Union Facility)
Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday to Friday (Overtime is minimal, and weekend work is very rare)
*Must be able to train for 3-6 months on 1st shift.
- Perform Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct timely and efficient mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance on industrial production machinery and facility equipment.
- Troubleshoot Complex Issues: Diagnose machine malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and testing instruments (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.) to quickly resolve operational issues.
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute established preventative maintenance (PM) schedules to ensure equipment longevity and reliability, maintaining accurate maintenance records.
- Be part of the plant’s emergency response team and complete all required training and exercises, including HAZWOPER, confined space procedures, and hot work.
- PLC Programming & Troubleshooting: Support troubleshooting and minor programming adjustments for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated automated control systems.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and production teams on process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new equipment installations.
- Ensure Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, OSHA regulations, and quality standards.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining an organized inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting is required.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of electrical systems (480V, 3-phase power), mechanical systems (gearing, bearing, chain drives), pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- PLC Experience: Familiarity with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills are essential.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various industrial conditions (loud noise, temperature variations).

Scope of Work:
This position applies to all members of the Maintenance department and any employees performing maintenance mechanic duties, including Maintenance Helpers working in the maintenance area. The Maintenance Mechanic is expected to follow safety protocols and procedures to minimize any potential environmental impacts as part of our ISO 14001 compliance.
Core Competencies:
- Journeyman’s status in maintenance (machine repair, millwright, electrical), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to operate basic metalworking tools, such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, and metal cutting saws.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to use computer systems for maintenance tracking and management.
- Ability to work with hazardous materials and complete required emergency response training.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to follow instructions, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a lift truck license test.

Work Environment:
