General Purpose
Performs secretarial and administrative duties in association with and as directed by the Department Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs various secretarial duties for the Department Manager, such as filing, answering phones and taking messages, and other similar tasks
- Performs clerical duties that may include typing, copying, composing routine correspondence, and taking minutes at meetings
- Distributes daily mail and maintains the filing system
- Answers the telephone and assists the general public with information about the department and/or facility
- Prepares summaries and reports
- Completes special projects and related duties as assigned by the Department Manager
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance
- Performs other duties as required
Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
Typical office environment; occasionally stands and walks; frequently sits. Typically requires routine use of a personal computer and general office equipment.
Environment/Noise
Noise level is moderate.

No certifications or licenses are required.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences
Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers; equipment manuals may be in English)
Knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel helpful
Exceptional organizational skills; maintains accuracy and neatness; ability to multitask
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; ability to compose letters and to facilitate phone calls and general inquiries sensibly
