Social Skills Group Assistant / Behavior Coach

We're seeking a compassionate, reliable Social Skills Teaching Assistant/Behavior Coach to empower middle and high school students in fostering healthy peer connections and nurturing lasting friendships.
In this role, you'll work alongside the group leader in a welcoming small group environment, offering guidance to adolescents in 7th-12th grades who may be neurodiverse and experience challenges with peer social interactions. You'll receive support and training as high quality service is of utmost importance.
Ideal for someone in college or interested in the fields of psychology, special education, school psychology, or counseling.

This is a temporary position for the current 14-week group, with the opportunity to continue into future groups and additional hours as the practice expands.

Schedule:
- Tuesdays, 4:15pm-6:15pm starting on 9/8/2026 or 9/15/2026 for 14 consecutive weeks (off Thanksgiving & Winter Break weeks).
Training provided before the group starts.
Responsibilities:
- Track group members' participation points
- Help set-up and clean up for the group meetings
- Review and participate in brief role plays to demonstrate social skills
- Guide group members in practicing the social skills
- Opportunity to lead lessons and activities as you gain experience and confidence in the role
- Light clerical duties
- Communicate and engage with the adolescents in a kind, supportive, and helpful manner
- Training provided to use behavioral redirection techniques, such as praising positive behavior, using nonverbal cues or indirect prompts to engage group members, etc.

Required Skills/Qualifications:
-Minimum of a High school degree or equivalent; Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in psychology, counseling, education, or closely related field.
-Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check
-Submission of a non-reactive TB test
- At least 6 months' experience working with neuro-divergent children OR with adolescents ages 12-17, preferably in an educational or mental health setting.
- Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis desired.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children and adolescents
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students and group leader.
- Occasional acting in brief role plays to demonstrate a social skill
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Positive, warm energy; willing to take initiative.
