Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently within designated routes. This position is a relay position leaving Okc and meeting another truck roughly 4 hours away and swapping then coming back to Okc. Loads are usually loaded and ready to go but there may be nights we need you to pick up something on way out of town. This is a flatbed position so need someone who has experience securing freight to a flatbed ( We generally move oilfield equipment so experience in this field is welcome) ready time to leave vary's. General schedule is Monday night through Friday night. May occasionally be asked to work a weekend but is very rare. I need someone who is dedicated and reliable. If you can't show up to work reliably then please don't waste either of our times. This can be a physically active job securing and unstrapping trucks several times per day so must not be afraid to get out of truck and work when needed. This is paid by a day rate to be discussed based on experience. Need at least a years experience and flatbed experience. This is a class 8 truck so must have a valid clean Class A CDL. Trucks are located on the west side of Okc near I-40 and Morgan.
As a Local Relay Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of trucks to deliver freight on a Flatbed trailer.
- Execute route driving to deliver goods to designated locations in a timely manner.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of hours driven, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts or manual handling techniques as required.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery status.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while driving.
- Manage paperwork related to deliveries, including bills of lading and delivery receipts.
Skills
- Proficient in truck driving with experience in operating manual transmission vehicles. Although most of our trucks are automatic we require ability to drive a standard transmission.
- Familiarity with loading and securing all types of freight on flatbeds.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts for loading and unloading cargo.
- Strong route driving skills with knowledge of local roadways.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries.
- Strong attention to detail for maintaining accurate logs and documentation.
- Good communication skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
- Must have and be proficient on a smart phone as most of our dispatch and e-logs are smart phone based.
