PART-TIME ACCESS TO JUSTICE NAVIGATOR
DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Judiciary-Court Services
HIRING RATE: $23.46-$26.06/hour based on education and position related experience
BENEFITS OFFERED: No benefits offered
POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP
HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Flexible – up to 29 hours/week
LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsibilities for assisting the increase in access to justice for individuals who cannot afford to hire or who choose not to hire and be represented by an attorney.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
• Associate degree in criminal justice preferred; pre-law, public administration, or related field or equivalent experience considered
• Experience reading and interpreting legal documents of varying types and complexity; applying knowledge of specific laws, statutes and rules to individual cases without providing legal advice
• Practical knowledge of standard practices and procedures of the Court, legal terminology, and local judicial policies
• Working knowledge of issues facing people experiencing homelessness, violence, and poverty
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen required
