Summary
The Open Gym Attendant is responsible for supervising all Open Gym program activities.
The Open Gym Attendant is responsible for performing the essential functions as outlined in this analysis. The Open Gym Attendant is a part-time, non-exempt employee. This is an at-will position.

Essential Functions

Perform all job tasks within policies and procedures of the Park District's Personnel and Safety manuals.

Attend staff meetings and complete in-service training sessions.
- Ensure facilities are properly set up and safe for play by assisting with preparing equipment, including the set up and take down of volleyball nets.

Check in participants and assist with attendance tracking.

Act as the primary responder to any incidents, injuries, or emergencies.

Supervise the open gym sessions and ensure safe, respectful behavior from all participants.

Monitor the use of gym equipment and ensure it is being used properly and aid with use, when necessary.

Monitor building to ensure participants stay in gym.

Actively monitor gym activities and enforce park district policies and procedures including gym policies, membership rules, safety protocols, and conduct expectations.
- Provide customer service to program participants.

Maintain a clean and organized space.

Adhere to all park district and program policies and procedures.
Marginal Functions

Charge admission, handle cash, and process waivers, as needed.

Assist with player rotation/participation, as needed.
Schedule
4 to 16 hours per week, weekend availability is required.
Starting Pay Rate
$15.00 to $17.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Qualifications

At least 16 years of age.

Knowledge of volleyball, basketball, and other recreational sport rules, preferred.

Prior experience supervising sports programs, officiating, coaching, or scorekeeping, preferred.

Ability to enforce rules and manage conflicts effectively and tactfully.

CPR, AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain this certification within three months of employment, is preferred.
Psychological Considerations
Must have the ability to deal with other people, sometimes under stressful situations. Must be able to resolve differences and problems that arise with participants and work together with employees. Must be mature and able to use good judgement.
Physiological Considerations
Must have the ability to lift materials up to 50 pounds. Must be able to occasionally remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be comfortable assisting children.
Environmental Considerations
All activities are performed indoors; these conditions include lighting, temperature, and noise.
Cognitive Considerations
Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to understand and follow instructions. Must possess good safety awareness and judgement. Must exhibit problem-solving ability and good judgement in keeping with the mission of the Park District.
