Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Child Care Director to lead and oversee the daily operations of a vibrant early childhood education center. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive. You will coordinate staff, ensure compliance with licensing regulations, and promote best practices in childhood development and education. Your leadership will inspire a team dedicated to fostering growth, curiosity, and well-being among young learners. Candidate must meet all DSS requirements for education and experience
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Lead, supervise, and support teaching staff to deliver high-quality early childhood education aligned with developmental best practices.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal licensing requirements related to childcare and early childhood education.
- Oversee staff recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development in areas such as classroom management, behavior management, and child development instruction.
- Foster strong relationships with families by communicating regularly about their child's progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Maintain a safe environment by implementing health protocols, conducting safety drills, and ensuring staff are trained in pediatric first aid and mandated reporting laws.
- Coordinate classroom activities for infants through preschool-age children, including toddler care and special needs accommodations when necessary.
- Monitor classroom environments to ensure they are engaging, inclusive, and conducive to learning for children with diverse needs including those with disabilities.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional caregiving standards.
Experience
- Proven experience working with young children in daycare or preschool settings with classroom management responsibilities.
- Prior leadership or director experience in an early childhood education environment is highly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of childhood development theories, early childhood education practices, and caregiving techniques.
- Hands-on experience with infant care, toddler care, preschool curriculum implementation, and classroom experience across various age groups.
- Familiarity with state licensing regulations related to childcare centers and mandated reporting laws.
- Certification in first aid (including pediatric first aid) and CPR is required; additional certifications such as special education or working with individuals with disabilities are advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of safety, behavior management, and educational quality.
