American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level II Trauma acute care hospital in Nebraska, requiring at least 2 years of experience and active NE or Compact RN licensure.

Level II Trauma acute care hospital ICU setting with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16
-
Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients

RNs are required to titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation

RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips; GE monitor brand used with tele tech oversight

Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilator

Charting via Epic EMR

12-hour night shifts (1830–0630)

Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required

Floating may be required to PCU or occasionally Med/Surg at ratios of 1:4 or 1:5

If placed on call and called back in, candidate must be able to arrive within 30 minutes

Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications are not accepted

Epic EMR experience applicable to this role

Must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility — driver's license is used to verify permanent address

Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Valid driver's license required for consideration

Candidates may not currently be employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity — those who worked PRN through outside firms will be considered

RNs are supported by nurse aides based on census, who assist with 1:1 observation or floor support, and a Healthcare Support Tech available 3 days per week (Mon–Fri, 0800–1630)

Travelers are added into the self-scheduling system after core staff schedules are set; block scheduling is not approved unless weekends-only

One shift of unit/department-specific orientation provided

Orientation includes a pass/fail open-book exam administered on Wednesdays covering skills learned during orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to pass

Minimum of 2 holidays falling within the contract period are required to be worked

RTO must be requested upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
-
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments — refusal to remove them may result to contract termination

Local candidates are accepted; eligibility is subject to the 50-mile radius rule
