Position Summary
The FCCHEN (Family Child Care Home Education Network) Coach & Behavior Specialist provides comprehensive support to licensed Family Child Care Providers within the network. This role combines coaching in curriculum, environment, and compliance standards with behavioral expertise to help providers successfully support children’s social–emotional development. The Coach partners with providers to elevate program quality, strengthen teaching practices, and implement positive behavioral interventions that foster safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environments. This position reports to the COO and is a part-time non-exempt.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Professional Development
● Conduct regular on-site and virtual visits with providers to model best practices in early childhood education and classroom management.
● Provide individualized coaching sessions to strengthen provider skills in curriculum planning, developmental assessments (DRDP, FCCERS), and family engagement.
● Support providers in implementing quality improvement goals and meeting state/agency compliance requirements.
● Deliver workshops, trainings, and resources on early learning, program management, and child development.
● Maintain documentation of coaching visits, progress notes, and follow-up action plans.
Behavioral Support
● Assess children’s social-emotional and behavioral needs through observation and consultation with providers.
● Collaborate with providers and families to create Individualized Behavior Support Plans when needed.
● Train providers in effective classroom management strategies, positive guidance, and trauma-informed care practices.
● Provide ongoing support to reduce challenging behaviors and promote pro-social skill development.
● Act as a liaison with community partners and specialists (mental health, speech/language, special education) when additional referrals are needed.
● Manage the suspension and expulsion process for A Place2Grow Care & Education Systems Inc., ensuring compliance with state regulations, clear communication with families, and the use of supportive interventions prior to exclusion.
Developmental Screening & Identification
● Conduct and/or coordinate yearly developmental screenings (ASQ, ASQ:SE, DRDP) for all enrolled children.
● Support providers in interpreting screening results and creating individualized learning or behavior support plans.
● Ensure screenings are documented, shared with families, and used to inform coaching and quality improvement goals.
Collaboration & Compliance
● Work closely with FCCHEN leadership to ensure coaching and behavioral support aligns with agency standards and funding requirements.
● Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and quality assurance activities.
● Assist in data collection and reporting for program evaluation and state compliance.
● Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Master’s preferred).
● Minimum 3–5 years of experience in early childhood settings, with demonstrated expertise in both coaching/mentoring and behavioral support.
● Knowledge of child development principles, positive behavioral interventions, and culturally responsive practices.
● Experience with DRDP, FCCERS, or similar quality rating systems preferred.
● Strong communication, documentation, and relationship-building skills.
● Ability to travel to provider homes/sites and work flexible hours as needed.
