Position Summary:
The New Patient Services Coordinator is responsible to ensure a smooth clinic, patient, and billing flow by providing professional administrative support following established standards and practices. The PSC will maintain patient records and interface with all departments throughout the clinic by receiving and directing patient questions to the appropriate clinic personnel. Strong customer service skills and willingness to work as a team member to facilitate patient care are an integral part of the position.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Handle high volume incoming calls.
· Review patient charts and insurance referrals/authorizations and take appropriate actions to assure proper maximal reimbursement.
· Assist physicians and/or administrators in all business and patient care responsibilities.
· Coordinator office communication flow.
· Communicates effectively and courteously with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and their families.
· Ensure all patient demographic and insurance information is correctly added or updated as needed.
· Responsible for scheduling new patient appointments.
· Maintains patient confidentiality and is knowledgeable regarding HIPAA laws and regulations.
· Patient chart management, preparation, maintenance, filing, copying, requesting records, etc.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Displays exceptional customer service skills in responding to all inquiries from patients, insurance carriers, outside agencies, internal departments, and co-workers.
· Daily review of charts for patients who have appointments for the following day to verify that all appropriate referral and authorization information has been received.
· Coordinate flow of insurance information with the clinic sites and corporate office.
· Data entry of patient registration information, request insurance codes as needed.
· Cover reception desk and telephones as needed.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
· Ability to prioritize job duties, meet deadlines, and effectively work on multiple tasks at the same time in a fast-paced team environment.
· Have superior customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
· Strong computer skills and previous experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is required.
· Intermediate level knowledge of Medical Terminology.
· Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail capabilities.
· Ability to handle stressful situations.
Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree preferred.
· 1 year recent medical office experience in new patient intake and appointment scheduling is required.
Physical Requirements:
· Sedentary work.
· Ability to lift small boxes and packages, 10lbs or less in weight.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour
