Position Summary
Summary:
The Lead Perioperative Assistant supports the Perioperative Assistant, nursing and medical staff with operating room preparation. They provide educational and technical expertise and support. The Lead Perioperative Assistant is first line contact with Nursing Leadership to maximize the quality of patient care. They offer assistance to nurses, anesthesiologists and the surgery team, as needed. The Lead Perioperative Assistant assigns, oversees and holds staff accountable for performance of daily duties in the Operating Room. They act as an internal expert and function as a resource person for less experienced personnel and preceptors

- Must complete in-house orientation program
- High school graduation or equivalent required.
Experience And Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Speaks, reads and writes English
- Must be able to hear and follow verbal instructions.
- Familiar with working a surgical environment.

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn
- Exposure to radiologic environment.
- Potential for cuts, bruises, muscle strain & exposure to contagious diseases via blood/ body fluids.
- Potential for exposure to anesthetic waste gases, and harsh disinfectants.
- Frequent prolonged standing/walking and patient lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring.
- Protective clothing worn: face shields, gloves, impermeable gowns, and particulate respirator.
- Must wear hospital provided scrub attire while on duty.
- Must work in air conditioned environment.
- Must be able to lift surgical supplies above the head.
