CDL Class A Dump Truck Driver — Local, Home Every Night

About Us
Hagerty & Mack Excavation is a growing excavation contractor working residential basements, commercial earthwork, site prep, grading, and utility work across the Kansas City metro. We're a small, hands-on crew — you'll know everyone's name, your work will be seen, and you won't be a number on a dispatch board. We run our own equipment and we take care of it.
The Job
You'll be hauling dirt, rock, and spoils between our job sites, quarries, and dump sites — and moving equipment on trailers when we need it. Most days you're running a regular loop within the metro, back at the yard by end of shift, home for dinner.
What you'll do day to day:
- Haul excavated material, aggregate, and fill to and from active job sites
- Load, tarp, and secure every load before it moves — no exceptions
- Back into tight residential sites and dump accurately where the operator wants it
- Transport skid steers, excavators, and attachments on the equipment trailer
- Run daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report defects before they become breakdowns
- Keep accurate load tickets, quarry receipts, and hours
- Help around the site between hauls — spotting, flagging, hand work, basic cleanup
- Grease and maintain your truck; keep the cab and the equipment presentable
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Valid CDL Class A with clean MVR
- 2+ years driving experience; dump truck or heavy-haul experience strongly preferred
- Current DOT medical card
- Comfortable backing and maneuvering in tight residential and jobsite conditions
- Willing to work outside the cab — this is a construction crew, not a delivery route
- Reliable transportation to the yard and consistent, on-time attendance
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and enroll in our DOT random pool
Nice to have:
- Tanker or doubles/triples endorsement
- Belly dump, side dump, or lowboy experience
- Skid steer or excavator seat time
- OSHA 10, flagger certification, or Kansas 811 locate familiarity
Schedule & Pay
- $25–$35 per hour, based on experience and endorsements
- Overtime paid after 40 hours — expect 45–55 hours a week in season
- Typical start 6:00–6:30 AM, Monday through Friday; occasional Saturdays during peak season
- Local work only. You are home every night. No overnights, no regional runs, no living out of the truck.
