Duties
- Safely operate wheelchair accessible transit vans, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Assist passengers with boarding, disembarking, and securing wheelchairs or mobility aids with care and professionalism
- Deliver excellent customer service by communicating clearly, courteously, and empathetically with patients and their families
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met
- Manage scheduling and route adherence efficiently to maximize service reliability and punctuality
- Handle heavy lifting when assisting patients with mobility devices, maintaining proper safety techniques
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger information, and vehicle maintenance records
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Either be over 25 years old, or have 1 year experience driving vans.
- Prior experience as a driver or in paratransit services is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with diverse passengers and team members
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting wheelchair-bound patients or handling equipment
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics to identify issues early and ensure vehicle safety
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and professional demeanor
