Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions, following aseptic techniques for sterile compounding such as IV infusions.
- Assist pharmacists with medication inventory management, including stock replenishment and expiration tracking.
- Support patient intake processes by verifying prescription details and ensuring proper documentation for LTC, hospital, or acute care patients.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering medication-related questions and offering guidance on medication use and safety.
- Maintain precise records of medication dispensing, inventory logs, and patient information while adhering to regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely medication administration and coordinate delivery of medications for critical care or specialized treatments.
- Follow strict protocols for aseptic technique during sterile preparations to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably within LTC pharmacy or hospital environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and pharmacy operations in acute care settings.
- Critical care experience is highly desirable, especially related to IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety standards related to medication handling and patient care.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced healthcare environments while maintaining attention to detail.
