Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized equipment.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using forklifts or other equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Drive long-haul or local routes, adhering strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Manage route driving schedules to ensure on-time deliveries across various locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to identify any maintenance or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and vehicle inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery times and resolve any issues promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers and CDL Class A licenses.
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar equipment.
- Strong knowledge of freight handling, load & unload procedures, and safety protocols.
- Ability to navigate route driving efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
- Experience with forklift operation for cargo handling when needed.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on commercial driving safety.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks confidently.
