Summary: The Supplier Quality Engineer works under the general direction of the site Quality Assurance leader and is responsible for establishment, control, and audit of vended inputs to ensure compliance to internal, regulatory and customer quality assurance requirements within our manufacturing environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Leads efforts by providing specification review and implementation to assure process integrity within the supply base.
- Performs external audits as required for all required, planned audits.
- Responsible for leading and coordinating continuous improvement activities within the supplier base.
- Apply knowledge to submit proper nonconformance reports to suppliers containing all relevant details and verify the corrective actions are adequate and robust
- Leads, implements, and tracks progress of innovation initiatives to continuously drive improvements to overall cost of poor quality. Effectively interface with the supply base to explain contractual requirements and provide technical support.
- Possess an intimate knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 Quality System requirements.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining positive supplier relationship through timely response, thorough communication, and preventative action, based upon customer requirements.
- Drive metric improvement of supplier quality practices around onboarding, surveillance, SCAR closure and impact, field performance and core supplier performance
- Maintain accurate records of inspection data and procedures.
- Uses metrics to track performance and initiate corrective action, where necessary.
- Monitor charges from customers and charges incurred for supplier chargebacks.
- Maintain supplier scorecards to track supplier performance
- Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including supplier quality manuals and company quality records
- Ensure cost-effective administration of company and departmental practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 7 yrs minimum experience as Quality professional
- Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001.
- Working familiarity with common Quality methodologies such as SPC, Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action.
- Ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts and specification sheets. Experience with 3D-MBD (3 dimensional - model based definition) necessary for consideration.
- Effective oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team/collaborative environment.
