Summary
- The Senior Estimator plays a key management role in the organization and implementation of all aspects of preconstruction on a project from concept through design. Must have experience in all aspects of estimating, scheduling, constructability, value analysis, and technical knowledge of subcontract trades. Must have effective communication skills to interact with internal and external clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supports and mentors estimating staff.
- Manages estimating processes for self-perform work.
- Engages in business development efforts, including client interactions and project interviews.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid packages.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project details for accuracy.
- Coordinate with project management to develop preliminary schedules and budgets.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier bid coordination.
- Conduct pre-bid meetings, site inspections, and project hand-off meetings.
- Perform value engineering analysis and risk assessments.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Oversee estimating functions to ensure high-quality and competitive proposals.
- Research current pricing trends and escalation impacts.
- Represent Forcum Lannom Contractors in industry and business development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong knowledge of estimating, scheduling, constructability, and subcontractor trades.
- Experience with various delivery methods and preconstruction services.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); experience with Planswift and Procore is a plus.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze complex engineering documents and develop winning strategies.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience (5-10 years in construction as a Field Engineer, PM, or Estimator).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Commercial Construction Estimating, Preconstruction, or related project management.
- At least 1 year of field experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed for inspections and meetings.
