We are seeking an experienced Press Brake Setup Technician/Trainer to join our team. This is a hands-on role responsible for setting up and operating press brake equipment, producing quality parts, assisting with operator training, and supporting the department in meeting production goals. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled press brake setup technician with strong technical expertise, the ability to train and mentor others, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Required: Candidates must have prior experience independently setting up and operating press brake machinery. This position is not an entry-level role, and experience limited to stamping presses, punch presses, or hydraulic presses does not qualify.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently set up, adjust, and verify tooling for press brake operations.
- Operate press brake equipment to produce high-quality parts in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
- Partner with the department supervisor to support daily press brake operations by providing technical expertise and hands-on production support.
- Assist with training new and existing operators on machine operation, setup procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Perform first-piece inspections and assist with ongoing quality checks to ensure parts meet required tolerances and customer specifications.
- Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to resolve manufacturing issues, improve processes, and ensure product conformance.
- Identify opportunities to improve setup efficiency, quality, and productivity through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain setup documentation, tooling standards, and work instructions to support consistent production and training.
- Coordinate with the supervisor to prioritize daily workflow, verify setups, support operator development, and help meet production schedules.
- Maintain accurate production and setup documentation as required.
- Assist other departments as production demands require.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience independently setting up and operating press brake machinery.
- Strong understanding of press brake tooling, forming techniques, and machine operation.
- Good communication skills with the ability to share knowledge and assist in training others.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience assisting with the training of employees in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Experience working with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve production and quality concerns is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the work shift.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for machine setup, operation, and handling precision parts.
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive movements as required.
- Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment while following all safety procedures.
Compensation
- Pay: $24.00–$26.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Overtime opportunities may be available.
