Job purpose
The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our veterans.
Junior Accountant to work closely with the Foundation’s Finance Department providing financial information by maintaining and reconciling accounts; preparing reports and additional support as needed.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining financial records.
- Responsible for providing financial status information by preparing special reports.
- Conducts routine data entry for accounting records.
- Responsible for completing special projects; correcting errors by posting adjusting journal entries; maintaining general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and accounts payable ledgers; keeping information confidential;
- Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or Sage (preferred).
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication & writing skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Pre-employment screening, including a background check, is required.
Working conditions
Special working conditions may include changes in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (e.g., outdoors or other locations) when participating in and assisting with special events as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
