Job Description
Do you enjoy working with complex DNA constructs? Do you have a knack for operational efficiency and streamlining laboratory processes? Do you want to enter the ground floor of an exciting biotech startup and wear multiple hats? We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with a background in molecular biology or similar field to join our Lab Operations Team to support our clients and partners by providing them with high-quality DNA constructs in a timely fashion. As an early member of our US-based Operations team, you will be part of a fast-paced and results-focused team. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about laboratory bench work and eager to learn new techniques, is capable of quickly learning and executing various molecular biology techniques, exhibits strong organizational skills and attention to detail, is comfortable taking on new challenges, will work collaboratively with others, and is comfortable working in a highly dynamic and rapidly scaling company.
Requirements:
- B.S. or B.A. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Biotechnology or related discipline
- 0-1 years of research experience in academic or industry setting (industry experience preferred)
- Familiarity with core molecular biology techniques including aseptic technique, microbial cultivation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and plasmid DNA purification
- Strong record keeping, organizational, time management, and written/oral communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly in a collaborative and dynamic environment, and able to adapt to changing project demands, including a willingness to take on and perform a wide range of duties
- Motivated learner, capable of quickly getting up to speed on new techniques, methods, and/or biological systems
- Passionate and excited about scientific advancement with a strong commitment to excellence
Responsibilities:
- Learn and execute a wide range of workflows supporting customer programs involving plasmid DNA construction, scale up, purification, and analytical characterization with support from scientific team
- Collect and document experimental results in electronic lab notebook entries and communicate to project team
- Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency efforts to make existing laboratory processes and workflows faster, cheaper, and more robust
- Follow standard operating procedures and work in accordance with relevant health and safety guidelines
- Maintain a clean, safe, and functional laboratory environment.
- Track laboratory inventory to ensure necessary consumables and reagents are on hand
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
