Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System is looking for a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) to join our team in Charleston, SC providing diagnostic imaging services to both inpatients and outpatients at this medical center under the direction of the radiologist.
Responsibilities:
- Assists Radiologists or other Providers during fluoroscopic examinations.
- Employs knowledge of anatomy and physiology to ensure quality and accuracy of examinations.
- Prepares contrast materials under the direction of the Radiologist for examinations requiring injectable solutions such as cystogram, arthrography and barium suspensions for the purpose of performing upper and lower exams of the GI tract.
- Sets up and prepares sterile surgical fields and prepare patients for arthrograms, injections or drains.
- Advises Radiologists, participating providers or referring physicians of examinations requiring their immediate attention.
- Performs imaging using direct radiography and computed radiography with the images processed digitally.
- Selects patient information from the HIS/RIS list on the workstation, verifies patient information prior to making exposure.
- Trains students in radiographic technique including positioning, exposure factors, patient identification, and environmental factors which result in optimal imaging and meet the needs of the students during their rotation at this facility.
- Performs portable radiographic exams at the bedside.
- Utilizes C-Arm in the operating room or specialty clinics.
- Performs bone densitometry examinations utilizing the DEXA scanner.
- Checks system for operation and assesses acceptable performance based on established guidelines.
- Participates in education and training opportunities related to the technical and clinical operation of diagnostic imaging equipment.

Pay: $66,125.00 - $81,785.00 per year
