A growing private residential management and staffing company is seeking an experienced private tutor to teach a pod of up to 5 children ages 2-5. The company provides high-level residential management and household staffing services for private clients, with an emphasis on discretion, exceptional service, and thoughtful property oversight.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, caring, patient, and energetic Private Tutor to work with young children ages 2-5. The ideal candidate will create a fun, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while helping children build early academic, social and developmental skills. Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia-inspired teaching methods encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Provide age-appropriate one-on-one and small-group learning activities
- Teach foundational skills such as letters, numbers, colors, shapes, early reading, writing and counting.
- Encourage language development, communication, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Use games, books, music, crafts, movement, and hands-on activities to make learning enjoyable.
- Support each child’s individual learning pace and developmental needs.
- Establish positive routines and encourage good manners, sharing, listening, and independence with the intention of developing social and emotional intelligence.
- Monitor and communicate children’s progress with parents or guardians.
- Maintain a safe, clean, hygienic and welcoming learning environment.
- This position does not include feeding nor changing diapers.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Psychology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of preschool/toddler teaching experience, preferably as a tutor, preschool teacher, nanny, babysitter, or early child educator.
- Core understanding of Montessori and Reggio Emilia education principles.
- Patient, warm, dependable, and enthusiastic personality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to keep young children engaged and focused through interactive activities.
- Understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate learning practices.
- Creative problem solving.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm: for lesson planning.
- Pod classes to be held every Tuesday and Thursday, 9am-11:30am weekly.
- The tutor is responsible for preparing lesson plans, activities, and materials in advance of each scheduled tutor session. Preparation and lesson-planning time will be completed outside of the scheduled class hours.
Physical Stamina: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; and taste or smell. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and relay information effectively to team, clients, and company leadership.
Transportation: Reliable personal transportation is required.
