Camino Wine Merchant is seeking a dependable and experienced Kitchen Lead to take ownership of our small, tapas-inspired kitchen. Our menu is being developed and fully costed by an experienced chef, who will also provide training to ensure the dishes can be executed consistently.
This is a hands-on, one-person kitchen position. The Kitchen Lead will be responsible for preparing and executing the menu, managing inventory and ordering, maintaining appropriate pars, keeping the kitchen clean and organized, and washing dishes during service.
The right person will be reliable, self-directed, organized, and comfortable working independently while maintaining consistent quality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute a Spanish tapas-inspired menu with consistency and attention to detail
- Complete daily prep and manage service independently
- Maintain established recipes, portion sizes, presentation standards, and food-cost goals
- Order food and kitchen supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and pars
- Receive, label, rotate, and properly store deliveries
- Monitor product quality and minimize food waste
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen
- Wash dishes and keep the dish area clean throughout the shift
- Complete opening, closing, and routine cleaning duties
- Communicate promptly about inventory needs, equipment issues, or operational concerns
- Follow all health department and food-safety requirements
Qualifications
- Professional kitchen or line-cook experience preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to follow established recipes and execute dishes consistently
- Knowledge of food safety, proper storage, and inventory rotation
- Comfortable managing ordering, inventory, and pars
- Dependable, punctual, and able to take ownership of the kitchen
- ServSafe certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work safely around hot equipment and in a compact kitchen environment
Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour
