Our new Wedgewood Houston Grocery location is scheduled to open in September 2026, and we are currently accepting resumes for a variety of positions. At the end of August, our team will start conducting phone screenings and scheduling in-person interviews with hiring managers.

What to Expect as a Grocery Cafe Assistant Manager
- Supervise Grocery Associates and Baristas during assigned shifts, ensuring all duties are performed in accordance with Perenn’s service, operational, and hospitality standards
- Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate daily priorities, product updates, promotions, operational changes, and company announcements
- Oversee and actively participate in opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, till reconciliation, and ensuring department cleanliness and readiness for service
- Maintain a visible presence on the floor throughout the shift, assessing operational needs, providing support, and delegating tasks to ensure efficient execution of responsibilities
- Open, close, and balance cash registers
- Address and resolve guest concerns and day-to-day operational issues promptly, professionally, and effectively
- Serve as the primary resource for Grocery and Barista Associates during shifts
- Assist with the onboarding, training, and development of new team members
- Monitor and coordinate employee meal and rest breaks
- Demonstrate proficiency in all Grocery department functions and provide cross-training and coaching to team members, including barista responsibilities when applicable
- Support inventory management efforts and ensure product information and SKUs are properly entered and updated within the Point of Sale (POS) system
- Deliver exceptional hospitality and create positive guest experiences through attentive, knowledgeable, and service-focused interactions
- Partner with the Management to address employee performance concerns, provide coaching, and support overall team development
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Assume additional responsibilities as delegated, contributing to the overall success and operational efficiency of the company
About You
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with guests, team members, and leadership at all levels of the organization
- 1 year of leadership experience in a restaurant, retail, or grocery environment
- Ability to execute tasks swiftly and efficiently, ensuring high-quality outcomes
- Skilled in collaborating within a team environment, contributing to collective goals and success
- Capable of maintaining composure and delivering results under pressure in fast-paced settings

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds regularly
- Must be able to stay on feet for prolonged periods of time
