ABOUT GREENBERG
Greenberg Development and Construction is a high-end residential design-build firm serving the San Francisco Peninsula, South Bay, and East Bay.
We're looking for a highly organized Design Coordinator to own the transition between planning, design, procurement, and construction — making sure client selections, drawings, finish specs, vendor quotes, lead times, and field requirements are all aligned before work reaches the jobsite. This is a critical operational role for preventing schedule delays, missing selections, late material orders, and avoidable change orders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Handoff & Documentation
- Own the handoff from Sales, Architecture, and Design into Construction — confirming scope, drawings, selections, and client approvals are aligned before work starts.
- Maintain a project-specific Design Decision Log, and track finish selections, fixture and appliance schedules, tile layouts, cabinetry, hardware, and paint colors.
- Prepare construction-ready design packets for field teams and coordinate showroom visits as needed.
Procurement & Fulfillment
- Own the procurement tracker for long-lead and design-sensitive items, including vendor quotes, pricing, lead times, and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate purchasing, shipping, and receiving for owner-approved materials, and flag procurement risks that could affect framing, tile, cabinetry, or inspections.
Construction Phase & Client Communication
- Support the Construction Project Manager on field decisions — electrical box locations, tile layout, cabinetry details, paint samples, and finish hardware — and schedule designer site visits when needed.
- Document client walkthrough decisions with written acknowledgment, and distinguish design clarification from true change orders.
- Communicate professionally with clients on selections, approvals, and procurement impacts, and escalate budget or schedule risks to the appropriate manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–7 years of experience in residential construction, interior design coordination, procurement, architecture, or design-build operations.
- Ability to read architectural drawings, finish schedules, cabinet drawings, and construction details, and strong organizational skills to manage many open decisions at once.
- Experience coordinating vendors, designers, project managers, and field teams, with excellent written communication.
- High-end residential remodeling, custom home, or ADU experience preferred; interior design background is a plus but not required.
- Experience with 2020 Design Flex (formerly 2020 Design) software preferred.
