Job Summary: Kings Mountain International is looking for a team player to set up and operate buffing machines to produce a high quality polished surface or other special finishing on various sheet metals. This job is 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-2:30 PM.
Starting pay is $17.75-$18.25 per hour.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing the machine by adjusting head or table to obtain correct buffing pressure.
- Drive linkage for correct speed, position of reversing stops, pads, or billy roll and similar functions.
- Must install appropriate buff if needed
- Will fasten steel plates on table with clamps and screws
- Obtains a finish by using a cutting compound and sanding defects by hands when needed
- Determines amount of compound, areas of application, the amount of buffing required
- Performs work such as raking buff, cleaning the machine, and minor maintenance
- Directs helper as needed in the process of loading/removing plates, cleaning , transporting, etc.
- Reports production time, information to the next shift
Qualifications:
- Ability to read/comprehend instructions
- Basic math skills
- Ability to reason
Education/Experience:
- HS Diploma or GED or 3-6 mo. related experience/training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Environment:
- Moderate noise
- Around moving parts
Physical Demands:
- Frequently lift or move up to 100 lbs
- Close vision, distance, peripheral, depth, and ability to focus
- Ability to use hands to maneuver
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop ,kneel, or crouch
