This key position entails supervising CAD Designers, managing engineering documentation, supporting new product development, and acting as the site's go-to expert for CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

You will oversee the daily operations of the CAD Design Department while supporting engineering projects from inception to production.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising, coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of CAD Designers and CAD Operators
- Establishing departmental priorities and assigning engineering design resources
- Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, 3D models, and documentation
- Supporting Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECR) and Product Change Process (PCP)
- Maintaining CAD drafting standards and best practices
- Managing CAD Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
- Serving as the site's CAD software administrator and technical resource
- Supporting SolidWorks administration, upgrades, and user training
- Coordinating engineering documentation with Project Engineers and Engineering Managers
- Conducting drawing audits to ensure compliance with company standards
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and design quality
- Assisting with hiring, coaching, performance evaluations, and employee development
- Reviewing weekly timecards and assisting with departmental budgeting
- Engaging in hands-on CAD design work as needed
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in CAD Design, Engineering, Drafting, or related technical field
- 5+ years of professional CAD Design experience
- 2+ years leading or supervising CAD Designers or Drafters
- Extensive experience with SolidWorks
- Experience in managing engineering drawings and documentation
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Positive, collaborative, "can-do" demeanor
- Capacity to motivate and develop individuals
- Previous experience in CAD Department leadership
- CAD Data Management (PDM)
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
- SAP PLM
- Engineering Change Management
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Configuration Management
- Background in engineering documentation control
- Skill in SolidWorks administration
- Have overseen CAD Designers—beyond using CAD software
- Enjoy mentoring and cultivating engineering talent
- Are adept at enhancing processes while promoting a positive team culture
- Are comfortable balancing leadership duties with occasional hands-on design work

- Base Salary: Up to $90,000
