DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Personally responsible to lay down and carry out strict training rules for their squad.

Personally responsible for their team’s dress, actions and behavior in their games, practice sessions, trips locker rooms, or any occasion where their sport personnel is taking part as a team representing their school.

Conduct themselves so that they will be above criticism at all times.

Personally responsible for taking care of equipment after contests, locker room supervision before and after practice and games, home and away.

Personally responsible for arranging all details on trips and for maintaining strict supervision of team members.

Cooperate fully with the Athletic Director in arranging schedules, hiring of officials, and purchasing equipment.

See that all students out for their sport have: Physical Examination Parent’s Consent Eligibility clearance for interscholastic competition • Medical Insurance • Make a master eligibility sheet for the athletic director of their complete squad.

Select student managers and train them as to their duties on trips, practice sessions, and games.

Issue equipment to their squad. It is taken for granted that an efficient system of issuing equipment will be thoroughly organized before the season begins. The head coach, assistant coaches, equipment manager, and student managers all should be part of this organization

Instruct their squad as to proper care of their equipment on the field, in the locker room and on trips.

Collect and inventory equipment at the end of the season. Cooperate with the Athletic Director in providing publicity materials to the newspapers, radio stations, and other schools.

Provide a system of awarding “letters” concise enough, whereby, no team may feel he/she has been discriminated against.

Assume a strong leadership in directing their assistants. There must be no doubt as to who is responsible for the successful running of their team. (Example: Scouting and reporting of opponents.)

Take a personal interest in the athletes and their problems; do counseling whenever and wherever necessary.

Contact of furnish all vital information and statistics, schedules, names of personnel, etc., to the press.

Exemplify good sportsmanship by abiding by the rules of both conduct of play and courtesy of human relations.

Be personally responsible for the locker room and shower room supervision during the dressing periods at the beginning and close of activities, varsity, reserve games, practices, especially during school vacations, holidays, and weekends. Turn off all lights and showers. Make sure all players have left the locker room. Make sure locker room is locked when you leave. The coach is the last to leave.

Provide the Athletic Director with a season report of the sports season immediately at the close of each sports season.

Be responsible to see that injury is properly taken care of. The trainer should be aware of all injuries. A written report is necessary.

The coach that calls a practice session anytime other than a regular school day must perform the following janitorial duties: Turn off all lights and showers. Make sure all players have left the schools. Make sure the locker room and school is locker securely. The exercise room and gymnasium must be supervised at all times by certified personnel. Coaches must be the last to leave the premises after each practice or game day. All athletes must be picked up before leaving.
