Jumoke Academy is seeking a full-time licensed Registered Nurse to be the Elementary School Nurse for SY 2026-2027! This can be a part or full-time position and may be eligible for benefits.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Nurse to provide comprehensive health services to students in a vibrant educational environment. In this vital role, you will promote student well-being, manage health emergencies, and support the overall safety of the school community. Your expertise in pediatric and school health care will ensure students receive timely, professional medical attention while fostering a healthy, safe learning atmosphere. Duties
- Assess and respond promptly to student health concerns, injuries, and emergencies, including administering first aid and medication as needed
- Develop individualized health plans for students with chronic conditions or special needs, ensuring proper management during school hours
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and school policies
- Conduct routine screenings such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks to identify potential health issues early
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to support student health and wellness initiatives
- Educate students on health topics including hygiene, nutrition, and injury prevention to promote lifelong healthy habits
- Manage medication administration, IV insertions if necessary, and emergency response protocols within the school setting
Qualifications
- Valid CT Registered Nurse nursing license with current registration; experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to children’s health needs
- Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for accurate documentation
- Strong patient assessment skills with the ability to handle urgent situations calmly and efficiently
- Familiarity with basic life support (BLS), IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and injection techniques
- Prior experience working in school settings or with children is highly desirable; hospital medicine or emergency room experience is advantageous
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including educators, parents, and healthcare professionals
