Responsibilities:
Work with students and teachers in an instructional support capacity and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Meets NCLB definition of highly qualified requirements:
- A two-year Associate degree
- 72-quarter or 48-semester college credits, or
- A passing score of 455 on the ETS Para Pro Assessment
- WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance (fee paid by the employee)
Desired Qualifications:
- Able to provide personal care assistance for students when needed (toileting, feeding, changing)
- Work with students in flexible and varied instructional settings to provide academic and behavioral support: one-on-one, small group, classroom
- Provide support during classroom activities and field trips
- Right Response trained
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Follows the direction of the certificated teacher
- Able to support the meeting of IEP goals as directed by the IEP case manager
- Functional member of the building SpEd team
- Seeks out strategies to improve student interactions
- Maintains schedule
- Reliable in demeanor, attendance, and collaboration
- Positive and flexible attitude with students, staff, parents, and community members
- Willingness to work toward successful demonstration of core competencies
- Must participate in the Fundamental Course Training to gain the necessary skills to perform this position
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA and HIPAA regulations
- Demonstrated competence in basic academic/communication skills appropriate to site assignment
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
- The safety and health of students and others are essential functions of this position
