Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Companion to join our team, providing essential support and companionship to individuals in various care settings. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for residents by offering personalized assistance, engaging activities, and attentive care. As a Companion, you will play a key part in creating a warm, safe, and supportive environment that promotes dignity, independence, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Offer companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering meaningful interactions and engagement
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents’ well-being through patient observation and report any changes or concerns to staff
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition
- Help with light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident spaces to maintain a hygienic environment
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments or outings using appropriate patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques
- Follow all safety protocols including HIPAA regulations, first aid procedures, and medication administration guidelines
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of Acquired Brain Injuries
- Ability to monitor vital signs and assist with patient monitoring techniques in compliance with healthcare standards
- Experience with patient transfer methods including Hoyer lifts and manual handling is desirable
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications in medication administration or hospice care are a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Demonstrated ability to handle heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility needs involving patients.
