Overview:
We are currently seeking dedicated and adaptable Registered Nurses (RNs) for travel assignments in Alexandria, LA. These positions offer an excellent opportunity to work in diverse healthcare environments, providing essential patient care across various specialties (Telemetry, Surgery, Med Surg, ICU, Emergency Dept., CCU & CVOR). As a Travel RN, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality nursing services, supporting hospital teams, and enhancing patient outcomes. Key responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, documenting care plans accurately, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management. Contracts are typically for 13 weeks and schedules vary from 8-hour shifts to 12-hour shifts day/night and possible weekend schedules.
Responsibilities (Will Vary Depending on Specialty):
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs regularly to detect changes in condition
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following prescribed protocols
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care
- Assist with complex procedures such as catheterization, suturing, and ventilator management
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, trauma patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities
- Implement infection control practices adhering to HIPAA standards and aseptic techniques
- Support discharge planning by coordinating with case managers and family members to ensure smooth transitions
- Manage acute pain and participate in triage processes in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or urgent care centers
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
Requirements (Will Vary Depending on Specialty):
- MUST LIVE 50+ MILES FROM CLIENT ADDRESS IN ALEXANDRIA
- MUST HAVE: Valid RN license in the state of assignment or a compact RN license with current BLS certification; ACLS preferred for critical care roles
- MUST HAVE: Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical experience in hospital settings such as ICU, emergency room, or medical-surgical units
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is advantageous
- Proficiency in performing medical procedures including phlebotomy, venipuncture, IV insertion, and sterile processing techniques
- Knowledge of physiology principles relevant to patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation
- Ability to adapt quickly to new environments while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across diverse healthcare settings
