Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive administrative and legal support across various practice areas, ensuring the smooth operation of the law office. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal procedures, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in legal technology platforms. Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, and correspondence with precision and clarity
- Manage and maintain case files using document management systems
- Conduct thorough legal research utilizing LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other research tools to support case strategies
- Assist with client communication, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings to ensure efficient case progression
- Prepare and organize discovery materials, exhibits, and evidence for litigation or transactional matters
- Support attorneys with procedural law compliance, filing deadlines, and court document submissions
- Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining strict adherence to privacy standards
- Utilize PCLaw or similar legal billing software for time entry and invoice preparation
- Manage incoming calls professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and organizational skills
- Perform data entry, document review, and filing tasks accurately to support civil litigation, estate planning, family law, or other practice areas
Experience
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar legal support role within a law office environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of diverse practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, UCC law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, securities law, landlord-tenant law, immigration law, family law, and general & commercial litigation
- Paralegal experience or certification is highly desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) along with specialized legal software such as iManage, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PCLaw, and document review platforms
- Strong research skills combined with procedural law knowledge to assist attorneys effectively
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with legal case management systems and document management practices
- Prior experience supporting attorneys in litigation or transactional settings is preferred
Pay: $29.00 - $34.00 per hour
