Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced OSP Manager - Construction to lead the Outside Plant Construction (OSPC) team. This position provides technical leadership and oversight for all OSPC supervisors and ensures continuous improvement of standardized processes. The role involves coordinating construction activities, maintaining relationships with local jurisdictions, utilities, and regulatory bodies, and managing construction contracts. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily management of OSP construction, installation, and maintenance of fiber and copper network facilities across poles, aerial, buried, and underground infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to the OSPC team, ensuring the development and standardization of processes.
- Manage and coordinate new OSP facility construction projects, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison with municipalities for construction activities, and utilities for pole attachment and conduit agreements.
- Schedule and coordinate maintenance, repair, and upgrades of OSP facilities, including customer complaint resolution, OSP generator routines, and emergency call-outs.
- Directly support line crews, fiber splicing technicians, and contract labor, ensuring the safe and efficient completion of OSP projects.
- Oversee the construction fleet, tools, safety protocols, and quality control audits to ensure adherence to safety and operational standards.
- Manage capital and operational expenditure (CAPEX & OPEX), inventory tracking, and equipment procurement to meet budget parameters.
- Approve timesheets, manage contractor invoices, and oversee project documentation, including PRs, POs, and work orders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent job experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of technical experience in Engineering, Construction, or Operations within the telecommunications industry.
- Prior supervisory experience, or demonstrated ability to lead technicians and contractors in a telecom construction environment.
- Strong understanding of OSHA rules, National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and Federal, State (DOT/DOH), and local regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, EBS, fiber mapping tools (M4/CV), and work management systems (WFM, ICMS).
