Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Instructor for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) classes to inspire and educate young learners. In this dynamic role, you will lead engaging STEM activities, foster curiosity, and promote hands-on learning experiences that ignite students’ interest in science and technology. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a strong background in education to create a positive and motivating environment for children of various ages. Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging STEM lessons tailored to different age groups, ensuring alignment with educational standards. Initial focus will be on elementary school kids.
- Facilitate hands-on experiments, projects, and activities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment
- Support students’ individual needs through differentiated instruction and personalized guidance, when needed
- Maintain safety protocols during activities, including first aid procedures when necessary
- Collaborate with team members to develop curriculum materials and improve program offerings. Leverage the Academy's existing curriculum and guides to develop the lesson plan.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage growth and enthusiasm for STEM subjects
- Put up updates on parent engagement portal after each class. Provide individual feedback to parent/guardian when needed.
Qualifications (Required)
- Proven experience in teaching or tutoring children in STEM subjects or related fields
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to foster a positive learning atmosphere
- Certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, and familiarity with first aid protocols (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage young learners actively and inform parents as needed
- Ability to adapt lessons creatively for children with diverse learning styles and needs
- Fast learner of new STEM/STEAM tools
- Experience with at least one of the following - Lego Spike Kits, Minecraft Education, Block programming such as Scratch/Scratch Jr, Robolox Game Development, 3D Modeling and Printing.
- Ability to travel in own vehicle to classes
- Reliability
- High availability in the afternoons and evenings (at least till 7:00 PM)
- Stay within 1/2 an hour of driving distance to destinations in Ashburn/Loudoun county, Gainesville (Prince William county) and Centreville (Fairfax county).
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and effective behavior management strategies
- Background in early childhood education, youth programs teaching, or camp experience is desirable
