Mercedes-Benz of Morgantown is looking for an Automotive Controller to join our team. The primary responsibility of the controller is monitoring, reporting, and interpreting the financial condition of the dealership. The controller also provides accurate sales and expense analysis, highlights problem areas, and identifies opportunities to improve profitability in line with monthly and annual forecasts. Essential Duties
- Financial Reporting
- Prepares monthly financial statements per dealership/manufacturer guidelines.
- Ensures accuracy of manufacturer accounts (warranty claims, rebates, co-op advertising, etc.).
- Interprets financial statements and daily operating controls to identify trends.
- Provides detailed financial and management reports to department heads.
- Forecasting & Cash Management
- Participates in short- and long-term financial forecasting.
- Maintains effective cash management and advises on use of excess funds.
- Accounting Oversight
- Reviews general ledger and reconciliations (bank, reserves, factory payable, floor plan payable).
- Investigates unusual entries and ensures compliance with tax and finance regulations.
- Oversees payroll, taxes, retirement records, and regulatory filings.
- Risk & Insurance
- Administers insurance renewals, purchases property/liability coverage, and processes claims.
- Audit & Compliance
- Coordinates annual audits/reviews and physical inventories.
- Ensures accounting procedures are followed and accurate records are kept.
- Works with CPA to minimize audit/review costs.
- Technology & Process Improvement
- Manages dealership computer systems to maximize efficiency.
- Strives for improved data integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Attends management meetings and supports all departments with financial insight.
- Supervises office personnel, ensuring proper accounting practices.
- Maintains professional appearance and performs other assigned tasks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $6,000 - $7,500.00 per month
