Position Summary
Urban Light Wellness Center is seeking a motivated and compassionate Nutritionist/Dietitian-Nutritionist to join our team as an independent contractor. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships with clients, creating individualized nutrition plans, and supporting clients through realistic, sustainable lifestyle changes.
This position offers flexibility, allowing you to gradually build your caseload through agency referrals as well as referrals you generate through your own networking and marketing efforts. There are no guaranteed hours, and scheduling is based on client demand and your availability.
Responsibilities
The Nutrition & Wellness coach will:
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments.
- Develop individualized meal plans based on each client's goals and health needs.
- Provide nutrition counseling and wellness education within the scope of professional practice.
- Complete weekly client check-ins and provide additional check-ins when purchased by the client.
- Monitor client progress and modify nutrition plans as appropriate.
- Collaborate with therapists and other wellness professionals, when appropriate, to provide holistic care.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and professional clinical documentation for every client interaction.
- Maintain confidential client records in accordance with HIPAA and professional standards.
- Educate clients on healthy eating habits, behavior change, meal preparation, and sustainable lifestyle modifications.
- Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards at all times.
- Participate in marketing efforts by networking, building community relationships, and promoting nutrition services.
- Accept referrals provided by Urban Light Wellness Center while also developing and maintaining an independent referral base.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Associates degree or higher in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience providing nutrition counseling, meal planning, and health coaching preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary wellness practice.
- Experience with telehealth is preferred but not required.
Independent Contractor Requirements
The selected contractor must provide and maintain:
- Active professional liability (malpractice) insurance appropriate for nutrition services.
- All required Connecticut certifications and professional credentials in good standing.
- Reliable computer or laptop.
- High-speed internet.
- A private, HIPAA-compliant workspace for virtual sessions.
- Responsibility for all continuing education requirements, taxes, certification renewals, and business expenses associated with independent contractor status.
Schedule
This is a flexible independent contractor position.
- There are no guaranteed hours.
- Caseload develops over time based on client referrals and marketing efforts.
- Sessions may be conducted virtually and/or in person, depending on client preference and business needs.
- Contractors manage their own availability while maintaining consistency for established clients.
Compensation
This position is compensated using a 70/30 revenue split, with the contractor receiving 70% of collected revenue for services provided and Urban Light Wellness Center retaining 30% to cover administrative support, marketing, office resources, scheduling systems, electronic health records, and practice operations.

Pay: $28.75 - $60.00 per hour
