The League School is seeking Math High School teachers/Special Ed teachers with Disabilities NYS certified teachers to teach high school courses to special needs students working to earn a high school diploma.
We offer professional development and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, using a trauma-informed approach, restorative practices, and DBT strategies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assess developmental functioning and learning skills of students based on IEP goals utilizing appropriate assessment tools
- Write annual goals, behavioral objectives and intervention strategies corresponding with assessment in consultation with other disciplines
- Evaluate student progress on an on-going basis
- Prepare weekly lesson plans according to a planned sequence with IEP goals and plan/share with teacher assistants
- Instruct and supervise teacher assistants and substitute teacher assistants in appropriate techniques to work effectively with children
- Participates in program planning and interdisciplinary team meetings
Education and Qualifications:
- BA needed, Masters preferred.
- NYS certification in Math Gr 7-12 and/or Students with Disabilities Gr 7-12.
Qualified candidates must have experience teaching in special education setting, preferably with students with mental health issues.
