Location: Columbus, OH
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: District Manager
At Turbo Wash, we are not looking for someone to simply open the doors, make a schedule, and hope the day behaves itself.
We are looking for a leader who sets the standard.
Our General Managers build disciplined, energetic teams that deliver excellent results—one customer, one shift, and one decision at a time. You will be responsible for running a successful car wash, but your most important responsibility will be developing the people who run it.
Clean cars are the product. Strong people are the legacy.
Build the Bench
-
Recruit people with energy, character, and potential.
-
Provide structured onboarding, hands-on training, and real-time coaching.
-
Give direct, respectful feedback and recognize excellent performance.
-
Delegate meaningful responsibility and consistently follow up.
-
Identify and develop future Shift Leaders, Assistant Managers, and General Managers.
-
Address performance issues before they become culture issues.
Your job is not to become the hero who personally rescues every shift. Your job is to build a confident, capable team that does not need rescuing.
Set the Standard
-
Model the professionalism, attitude, and work ethic expected from your team.
-
Communicate clear expectations and verify follow-through.
-
Build a culture centered on honesty, care, customer service, safety, and community.
-
Hold people accountable consistently and fairly.
-
Remain composed when the site is busy, someone calls off, and a piece of equipment chooses violence—all at the same time.
-
Create a workplace where people can have fun without lowering the standard.
Run the Business
-
Oversee daily operations from open to close.
-
Create effective schedules based on traffic, labor goals, and team capability.
-
Complete payroll, reporting, inventory, and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
-
Maintain productive relationships with vendors, community partners, and company support teams.
-
Follow and consistently enforce company policies and procedures.
-
Lead local sales, marketing, fundraising, and community initiatives.
Own the Scoreboard
-
Achieve revenue and profitability goals.
-
Grow memberships and sales conversion.
-
Manage labor, chemical usage, inventory, and controllable expenses.
-
Reduce preventable losses and damage claims.
-
Use performance data to identify problems and build practical action plans.
-
Teach team members how their daily actions affect business results.
When results fall short, we evaluate, adjust, and improve.
Protect the Customer, Team, and Site
-
Deliver positive, memorable customer experiences.
-
Resolve concerns calmly, fairly, and professionally.
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-ready location.
-
Reinforce safe work habits and company safety procedures.
-
Identify minor maintenance issues and escalate concerns before they become expensive adventures.
-
Step into any customer-facing or operational position when your team needs support.
We are in the clean-car business. A dirty site would be a fairly awkward plot twist.
A successful Turbo Wash General Manager builds a location where:
-
Employees understand the standard and take ownership of their responsibilities.
-
Coaching happens consistently and future leaders are actively developed.
-
Customers receive professional, reliable service.
-
Safety and cleanliness are non-negotiable.
-
Financial and operational goals are achieved.
-
Problems are addressed early and deadlines are met.
-
The location continues performing when the General Manager is away.
Your success is not measured by how dependent the location becomes on you. It is measured by how capable the team becomes because of you.
-
Genuinely enjoy coaching people and watching them grow.
-
Believe accountability is an act of leadership—not punishment.
-
Can challenge people while still showing that you care.
-
Bring positive energy without avoiding difficult conversations.
-
Take responsibility when results fall short and give your team credit when things go well.
-
Stay organized, dependable, and solution-focused under pressure.
-
Care about both people and results.
-
At least two years of leadership or management experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
-
Experience hiring, training, coaching, and managing employee performance.
-
Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
-
Ability to understand business performance and act on the numbers.
-
Comfort using computers, reporting tools, and business software.
-
Mechanical aptitude or a strong willingness to learn.
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Car-wash experience is preferred but not required.
We would rather teach a great coach how the wash works than teach a car-wash expert how to care about people.
This is a hands-on operational leadership position. General Managers must be able to:
-
Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and high-volume periods.
-
Stand and move for extended periods.
-
Work outdoors in changing weather and in wet conditions.
-
Lift and move items of moderate weight.
-
Perform cleaning, vehicle-loading, customer-service, and operational duties.
-
Respond appropriately to urgent staffing or equipment situations.
You will not lead every shift from behind a desk. Mostly because the tunnel does not fit in the office.
We are looking for a coach, culture-builder, problem-solver, and business leader who can develop talent, demand discipline, and build a team that improves every day.
Bring the energy. Teach the standard. Build the bench. Trust the process.
And prepare to make a championship-level number of cars sparkle.
