JOB TITLE: Director of Finance
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time, Year-Round, Exempt
WORKDAYS: Full time, coordinated with a 7 days/week operation
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Finance at Sunlight Mountain Resort is responsible for the overall financial strategy, accounting operations and direction of the organization. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Director of Finance leads financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis. The Director of Finance also ensures regulatory compliance and financial sustainability while managing the resort’s financial risks. In addition to overseeing the Corporate Accountant, the Director of Finance collaborates with department heads to drive financial performance and accountability across the resort.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the development and implementation of the resort’s financial strategy to ensure long-term profitability and sustainability.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior management on resource allocations, performance optimization, overall accountability against goals and plans.
- Support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for all departments.
- With the support of the finance team, prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with the CEO and department heads to track spending, manage budgets and provide financial guidance.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to financial reporting and taxes.
- Manage the preparation of financial statements and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of their distribution.
- Supervise and mentor the finance team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, reports and the development of a high-performance team.
- Oversee cash flow management, debt financing, and financial risk management activities.
- Work closely with the executive leadership team to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
- Lead the development and implementation of internal controls and financial policies.
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in financial and/or accounting management, preferably in the resort or hospitality industry.
- Proven experience in overseeing financial operations, including accounting, financial planning, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and industry-specific financial practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ensure the compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax laws.
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to oversee and mentor financial staff.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and present actionable insights.
- Excellent excel skills and experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and effectively.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards in handling confidential financial information.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Director of Finance works primarily in an office setting at Sunlight Mountain Resort, collaborating with various departments and the executive team. The position involves working under tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic resort environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time in an office setting.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment for prolonged periods.
- Ability to navigate flights of stairs in snowy and icy conditions, as the resort's office may be located in a multi-level building
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversee the financial health and sustainability of the resort.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board of Directors and CEO.
- Develop and manage the annual budget and forecasts.
- Maintain control over cash flow, financial risks, and liquidity.
- Manage debt and capital funding, ensuring optimal use of financial resources.

Pay: $103,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
