Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Shared Housing Caregiver to join our team, providing high-quality care and support to residents in a shared living environment. In this vital role, you will promote independence, ensure safety, and foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere for individuals with diverse needs, including those with cognitive disabilities, dementia, or requiring assisted living support. Your energy and expertise will help create a positive community where residents feel valued, respected, and cared for every day.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs regularly to ensure residents’ health stability
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication activities
- Provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other cognitive disabilities, employing memory care techniques and behavior management strategies
- Support safe patient lifting practices and manual handling to prevent injury during transfers or repositioning
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Engage residents through meaningful activities, socialization, and group support to promote mental well-being
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living, nursing home, or residential care environments with a focus on geriatrics or memory care
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and behavior management techniques
- Ability to operate standard passenger vehicles safely for transportation needs when required
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is essential; ongoing training preferred
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with manual handling tasks safely
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is highly desirable
- Prior long-term care or home & community care experience is a plus
