We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) / Tax Professional to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive accounting and tax expertise to ensure accurate financial reporting, federal and state tax compliance, and strategic financial analysis.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience preparing and reviewing both business and individual tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1040, as well as applicable state income tax returns. Experience handling multi-state tax filings and working with a variety of business structures is highly valued.

Duties
- Prepare and review federal and state business tax returns, including Form 1120 (C Corporations), Form 1120-S (S Corporations), and Form 1045, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable federal and state tax laws.
- Prepare and review individual federal income tax returns (Form 1040), including applicable schedules, supporting forms, deductions, credits, and related state income tax returns.
- Handle multi-state individual and business tax filings, when applicable, and research state-specific filing requirements.
- Review client financial records, general ledgers, trial balances, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and supporting documentation to accurately prepare tax returns.
- Identify potential tax deductions, credits, adjustments, and tax-planning opportunities for individuals and businesses.
- Manage tax reporting and compliance for individuals, corporations, S corporations, and non-profit organizations.
- Assist with tax notices, amended returns, tax research, and federal and state tax compliance matters.
- Prepare and review complex financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Conduct detailed audits and reviews to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
- Perform account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting to maintain accurate financial records.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, payroll management, and budgeting activities to ensure operational efficiency.
- Utilize accounting and tax software, including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and professional tax preparation software, for bookkeeping, tax preparation, and financial data management.
- Interpret financial reports and conduct detailed analysis to support strategic decision-making for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support tax planning and year-end strategies for individual and business clients.
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain tax documentation, explain tax results, resolve discrepancies, and provide professional tax guidance.
- Participate in mergers & acquisitions due diligence, asset management reviews, and financial report preparation as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred/required, depending on position requirements.
- Strong hands-on experience preparing business tax returns, particularly Forms 1120 and 1120-S.
- Strong experience preparing individual Form 1040 tax returns and related schedules and forms.
- Experience with federal and state income tax preparation and compliance.
- Knowledge of Form 1045 and applicable carryback/refund procedures.
- Experience with multi-state tax returns is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws, tax compliance, tax reporting, and tax planning.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP and technical accounting standards.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or equivalent platforms, as well as professional tax preparation software.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare detailed financial and tax reports.
- Effective client communication skills with the ability to explain accounting and tax concepts clearly.
- Ability to perform double-entry bookkeeping, account analysis, asset management, budgeting, and financial planning.
- Strong understanding of debits and credits, payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Experience reviewing financial statements and accounting records specifically for tax return preparation.
- Demonstrated experience in public accounting, tax preparation, or a professional accounting environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple individual and business tax returns during tax season.
