Mackinac Straits Health System, located right across the mighty Mackinac Bridge in St. Ignace, is looking for a full time Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Rehab department. We will consider an exercise physiologist for this role.
This position is responsible for assisting and treating cardiac patients recovering from or trying to manage cardiovascular disease. The cardiac nurse role includes the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities and other duties may be assigned.
Evaluating and treating patients with different cardiac diagnoses.
Monitor patients for arrhythmias, support their efforts to exercise, and identify any risks in their treatment plan.
Uses telemetry machine to monitor heart rhythm and report any abnormalities to the supervising physician.
Attaches three-lead or twelve-lead EKG to monitor patient’s rhythm.
Creates and maintains patient treatment plans.
Enters patient data into computer to be saved, while doing so verifies the information is correct with patient.
Perform and monitor telemetry, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and heart rate.
Perform and maintain a patent IV.
Able to assess and determine the best method of care.
Assisting and performing in diagnostic testing including: Stress Tests, Stress Echocardiograms, EKGs, Bubble Studies, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms, and other testing as assigned.
Able to communicate and work with other medical professionals to provide comprehensive care for a patient.
Competencies/Qualifications/Certifications/Licensures:
· Minimum Education: Graduate an accredited school of nursing
· Minimum Experience: Cardiac experience required
· Required Certifications/Licensure: Registered Nurse license, BLS, and ACLS certified.
