CDL/Boot Truck / Distributor Truck Operator

Position Summary
S&S Paving & Construction is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Boot Truck / Distributor Truck Operator to support asphalt paving and pavement maintenance operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating an asphalt distributor truck to apply asphalt emulsions, tack coat, prime coat, fog seal, and other liquid asphalt products in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience in roadway construction, asphalt paving, and pavement preservation operations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate a boot truck/distributor truck for the application of asphalt emulsions and related materials.
- Apply tack coat, prime coat, fog seal, rejuvenators, and other liquid asphalt products at specified rates.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Monitor spray systems, pumps, nozzles, and application rates to ensure proper coverage and quality.
- Coordinate with paving crews, project foremen, and superintendents to support daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records of materials applied and daily production activities.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting asphalt materials to job sites.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and job site requirements.
- Assist paving, sealcoat, crack seal, and maintenance crews as needed.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of assigned equipment.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid CDL Class A driver's license with appropriate endorsements.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating an asphalt distributor truck, boot truck, or similar construction equipment.
- Knowledge of asphalt paving and pavement preservation operations.
- Ability to safely operate equipment in active construction zones and traffic environments.
- Understanding of DOT regulations and vehicle safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when required.
Preferred
- Experience with tack coat, chip seal, slurry seal, micro-surfacing, or pavement preservation projects.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as rollers, loaders, or sweepers.
- Tanker endorsement.
